Ouch!
Growing pains never hurt this good...
Acme's web service has nearly doubled the number of web sites hosted on our
servers in the past month. We've added a new computer geek to our team,
Jason Becht (who
loves fan mail, incidentally) to handle the added work. Jason brings .html and
.cgi programming and web server administration experience to Acme.
We've pondered the increase in business activity and believe that it's
attributable to one of two things:
- It could be Acme's good service, competitive prices and willingness to do
anything to please our clients....
- OR... it could be that we're in a market that's "HOT,
HOT HOT!"
We speculate the answer is a little of both.
Ask any of our
customers
and they'll tell you that we're knowledgeable, we truly believe in the potential
of the Internet, and that we try hard to please.
"HOT, HOT, HOT?" Ask
Microsoft why they've chosen
Minneapolis/St. Paul as one of their launch points for their new "Sidewalk" web
service, an "Online City Guide to Entertainment" in the Twin Cities.
Does Acme feel the heat of competition from a giant like Microsoft?
Well, maybe a little singe around the edges. :-) However while still in the
startup phase, from all reports, Microsoft's Sidewalk City Guide may turn out to
be an additional avenue to bring traffic to your own web site - perhaps hosted
with the friendly folks @ Acme.
Regardless, it's now clearer than ever that Twin Cities computer users are
utilizing the Internet for business and pleasure in record numbers.
The Internet has been called the ultimate equalizer. The question isn't
whether any business - yours or ours - can compete and/or cooperate with large
corporations on the Internet. The question really should be...
Can they compete with us?
